Sound poems

This week, we focused on what we hear every day! Students thought about the sounds they listen to at home, at school, and outside.

Lesson Note: By focusing all o our attention on only one of our senses, we realized how much we hear every day and how much learning about sounds can tell about a person.

Mrs. Childs, 5th Grade 5th Grade

The Sounds I Hear at School Tamia D.

I hear the boy behind me

smacking on M&M’s. I hear

the water fountain going

shhhhh. I hear people tapping

their pencils going tap tap

tap. I hear people talking

going pssss psssss. I hear

people clicking their keyboard

going click click click.

My Favorite Sounds Niko R.

I hear the swish of the basketball hitting the net

I hear the crack of a baseball bat hitting a home run

I hear the klunk of a baseball mitt catching a fastball

I hear the pitter patter of the rain falling from the sky

I hear the bounce of a basketball being dribbled

I hear the shhhh of the wind wooshing

I hear the flow of the river

These are my favorite sounds

Mr. Goldner, 5th Grade 5th Grade

Jackie's Sounds Jacqueline G.

I hear the microwave humming

I hear the cabinet door slamming

I hear my dog go bark, bark

I hear the soup go bubble, bubble

I hear the whispers in my ear

I hear the stove go tic, tic

I hear my sister screaming

at the top of her lungs

I hear my shoes go tap, tap

I hear the talking fade away

I hear the alarm clock go ding, ding
