Show Don’t Tell

In week seven of the residency, we built on our previous week’s exploration of using our five senses to evoke memories, and used that to understand the concept of “Show Don’t Tell.” In other words, we tried to write poems where we used our five senses to describe an experience, place, moment, or idea in a way that transported the reader into the things we felt, so they could experience things from our perspective, and not just hear us tell what happened in abstract, broad strokes.
