Sharing and Collaborating

Last week Swift 2nd graders were feeling exuberant and so we had fun reading animal poems, making animal sounds, and getting physical by moving in slow-motion as if we were sloths in Ms. Popovic’s class. In Ms. Amato’s class, we showed-off unique facial expressions, tricks, impressions, and made an impromptu (unplanned) choral performance by singing the words to our collaborative poem!

Spring Poem (a collaborative poem)

In spring break we have fun with friends
the flowers are blooming
we splash and wash winter’s snow
and cold off of our coats

In spring we climb trees
we speak Spanish, “Bienvenido”
“Welcome”
we can ride our bikes
you can feel nature,
it is airy and fresh
the sun is shining, it makes
us feel melty

In spring you can pick flowers
to make necklaces and crowns
and hair ties.

Recess! (a collaborative poem)

We love recess
it makes us feel excited, energetic
and really fun
our bodies feel elastic
We play games like gorilla tag,
and hide-and-seek

We scream like lions getting a million dollars
We scream like we are afraid
We scream like banshees
We scream like sirens
We scream like music

The air feels cold or warm
like a fan fanning our faces
After being quiet and still in class
At recess we can be free
