Mrs. McClain 7th Grade
I made it by adding my favorite
childhood toy.
4 butterflies
and my favorite food
with this, I would also need
Happy thoughts and good memories.
As I made this potion
I realized that I couldn’t think
of bad thoughts and how after
the portion was made everyone
was so kind and nice to
me.
I go to a grotto, small and pretty the day
was unpleasant
I listen as I hear waves crashing I add in
the sound
I look
I see the beautiful sunset, pink,, purple, and orange
contrasting against the crystal clear water
I mix it in
I walk and grab a pink pearl and seashells,
grind it to a powder and stir
I add in the sea salt mist and sprinkle in scales of
parrot fish and petals of pink flowers
I mix and stir
I realize how I’ve been making this to be happy
when I could been doing something that
makes
me happy not
forces
I leave the portion to go and dance in the sun
blanketed in its warmth.
Mrs. McClain 8th Grade
We took a page from
a little girl’s diary. Then
the summer leaves
sprinkled in the pot.
The sound of beach waves
crashing stirred in
with a touch of the
sound of the creaking
of a swing
After it boils
you take a sip
as the steam from
a mother’s cooking
rolls off.
Throw in a dash of pencil shavings
graphite goes everywhere
We add the ripped-up pieces
of that test
We throw in music
from all the hours of studying
The words from a teacher’s lecture
hang in the air
The pot exudes the smell of dusk
the one that makes us want to sneeze
We need this for our next ELA
test.
Mrs. McClain 8th Grade
This is a potion of wealth.
Stir a green-colored liquid into a pot.
drop pennies, nickles and dimes
Then spray 10 pumps of the scent of money.
Throw Abraham Lincoln’s hat in and a few
gold coins
Now take a sample of leprechaun’s skin
cell.
dro in 5 tablespoons of happiness
Once this is all done, pour a glass
out.
You will not only become extremely rich.
but extra serotonin is added to your brain.
We made it with 3 drops of a steak dinner smelling deliciously
We made it with a hint of a candle, smelling like a home
We made it with a soft blanket, warm like my soul.
We made it with money, enriching life itself
We made a potion. feeling great.
With the tears of
a heartbroken girl
and the brightness
of 1,000 sunsets
a petal from
an orchid flower
the smell is beautiful
it’s a beautiful fragrance
Perfume.
Mrs. McClain 7th Grade
Trust
something that takes time
just as the potion did
I felt a sense of comfort while making it
like I could rely on it
and the smell of French vanilla
I used the radiant light that breaks darkness at
sunrise
I used frosty lake water from those cozy, cold
days
And I used time-passing
like cars on a highway
quick
but noticeable
and at last, I used glass
broken glass
I must drink this.
Yellow pepperoni
a spider’s venom
crystal glass
a rolly polly
a pencil
scissors
a hamster
dog poop
Coke
bleach
chicken
milk
