Poetry Publishing: Part 2

Today, I made a visit to Swift to work with small groups on their revisions for their final poems in our poetry books. We had a great time being able to work in a more one-on-one way. We’re very excited for our poetry party on Monday.

Some goals students worked on:

In a poem about a special gift, Abhipsa wanted to use more of her senses and she added lines like “I smelled/lots of crayons. It feels/like a rainbow.”

In a poem about a bunny, Annie wanted to add more descriptive language and she turned “Everyone touches my fur” into “Everyone touches my fluffly cloud fur”

In a poem about caring for a friend, Ellen wanted to be more specific. She changed “I will bring them their favorite things” to “I will bring navy blue pencils/and pjs.”
