Poems as Superheroes–8th Grade

In Ms. Budzileni’s 8th grade class, we read Blk Girl Art by Jamila Woods and discussed what we want poems to be able to do in the world. We imagined our poems as superheroes, able to do anything we could imagine!

Poems Mersayes

Poems are useless unless
they bring back my cat that ran away
or they bring back my grandpa that
passed away or if they make everyone
feel safe and not helpless about anything
or if they teach you something valuable
that could possibly save you one day or it
they take everyone’s problems and worries.
