Poems as Superheroes–5th grade

In Ms. Robinson-Sanchez’s 5th grade class, we read Blk Girl Art by Jamila Woods and discussed what we want poems to be able to do in the world. We imagined our poems as superheroes, able to do anything we could imagine!

Ms. Robinson-Sanchez 5th Grade

A Poem Gisele

A poem doesn’t make you feel anything
unless it is lasting. I want a poem to get my grandpa to
the United States. I want a poem that can help
my mom with her stress. I want a poem to
make sure that my brother comes home from college
every holiday. A poem to help my grandma run
again. I need a poem to heal.

I want a poem to change the world Demize

I want a poem to make adults understand kids
better. I want a poem to make all people have n o fear.
I want poems to change bullies to better, nicer
people. I want a poem to treat everyone
equally. I want everyone to be noticed and never
feel invisible.
I want a poem to change the world.

The Memories Poem Noel

I wish this poem could fix people’s
feelings and turn their doom around
and heal the brains of a bully
and help the emotions and make
it feel like a hot tub
with flaming water and make
it taste like candy.
