Persona Poems + Rhyme

In week 6 at Dever Elementary the 7th grades of Ms. Sherfinski and Ms. Carteno’s class got festive right in time for a long break. Students read Christmas Tree by Evelyn P. a peer poem that gave us an excellent example of what a persona poem is. Students identified a celebration or practice they take part in and wrote a persona poem of an item in that holiday.

The Youel Log Trudy B.

As I burn into ashes I set you free
you write what you don’t like on me
you write on me to bring better thoughts

I bring love and hope and smiles on your face

and on Christmas Day you scatter me
around to protect you from harm
and let in the love

I am a Device Karim A.

I shine my lights in peoples faces.
I give people who look at me joy.
I can get people whatever they want.
I am made out of glass but I have life.
I am turned on at day and off at night.
I connect people by calls.
I can do anything someone asks for.

Untitled Eryk K.

The gift is huge
It could be a pc
It could be another tree
I see a round one its has a lot of wrapping
with lines
A lot of gifts
A lot of presents

Carteno's Class

Freedom leading, another world. Cas

1.I feel free while I
Feel free when writing the story of the unknown
the one that takes me somewhere else
the one that shouldn’t be shown

2. freedom looks like the school thats by the golden tree
the school that helps me control my power
the school that helps me feel like me

3. freedom feels like the fire that speeds by my face
the water that attacks back
the vines that come up without a trace

4. when I am free I am the person that hold its all
Person who can make the others feel safe
the person that can help and make the last call.

untitled Luca M.

When Im free
I feel like a bee
Me and my friends
always have unjust like the sun
my freedom feel like
lemon cake
or this poem
like lemonade
balling with my friends like I’m in the NBA
just like D-Wade

Persona Piece Lenny R.

I am organs made of led
I have an erasable face
my body is wood
I am a pencil

Presents Noelani C.

I am a Christmas present.
Colorful ribbons surround me.
I am a small cardboard box.
Festive wrapping covers my whole body.
I always carry a special thing in me.
Being opened
Its like a game of chance
you may wither be disappointed or giddy.
But at the end of the day,
I’m stuffed with love and care
and maybe even a bear.
