People who love to eat are always the best…poets!

One of my favorite things to write about with students is food! It provides such a great way to engage all of our senses and bring a poem to life. We got started by sharing a little bit about what some of our favorite foods were and after we worked up an appetite, students got to writing. There were so many amazing and delicious poems to choose from. I hope you enjoy this week’s pieces!

Ramen Wendy C.

Ramen, put me
in water.

Hot brings
me to life
with waves.
Add seasoning
for flavor.
I can be
chicken, or shrimp.
I look like curls
or maybe waves.
I bring
memories with
culture from
Japan.

Sushi Olivia G.

As I walk up in the sushi restaurant I can smell it in the kitchen.
I wait in line to het called to a table.
When we finally get called we walk to our table and look at what we want.
I usually get a Phily roll. That’s my favorite.
But one day we tried a bunch of different ones and we tried the Godzilla roll. Let me tell you it was the best thing you will put in your mouth!
