On Mondays, I’m lazy!

What animal do you feel like on Mondays? How is a Friday different than a Tuesday and why? This week in Ms. Murray’s 4th grade class we read Francisco Alarcon’s On Monday I Feel Like a Dragon and talked about what animals we feel like on different days of the week. Reading through these poems this week was like taking a walk through a zoo of exotic animals and wild emotions. It’s always such a joy collecting poems from this class and getting to read how they are able to express their imaginations in such unique ways. Enjoy this week’s poems!

Early On Saturday, I'm Bored Andrew P.

Early on Saturday, I’m bored
like a dog cuz, when I’m mad I
just wanna bark at people.
When I’m happy, I jump around and
play too. Sometimes I feel like a
cat, cuz I can be lazy.

Lazy Monday Jessica A.

Sometimes I feel like a
cat, but sometimes a panda or a sloth.
On Mondays I’m lazy, that’s what makes
me feel like a cat cause they’re lazy
And a panda cause they sleep every day
I feel sad on Monday cause Monday
means school, and school isn’t that
fun on a Monday. Monday
is a lazy day.
I can’t wake up in the morning
I cry in the morning for all the
sunlight. I wake up like a
yawning tiger then I get up and
I don’t want to go to school.

Animal Me Alfie Hawkins

When I first wake up I am a
cat. I am very lazy.
When I go to school I am a
sloth. I am a very S.L.O.W. walker
When I eat breakfast I am
a mouse. I am eating really fast.
At enrichment, I am a tiger. I
run very fast.
At 3:00 I am happy but then
sad. I still have folkloric so I
am a dodo bird.
At home I am a lazy cat
again. I am lazy again.
