Of similes and metaphors for Valentine’s Day

This week students wrote similes and metaphors dedicated to their secret love for Valentine’s Day! They had to compare their secret love to things that are beautiful.

Each week there will be 3 poems from each class published to our Hands on Stanzas blog, and every student will have an opportunity to see their written work published on our blog in the weeks to come.

Ms. Tamru 7th Grade

by Shaniya J.

I’ll pass on you like I pass my class
You treat me like a queen and that’s why I’ll throw you in the dungeon
You caused a nuclear explosion in my heart

by Seth W.

You are as sweet as pie, and always on my mind
You’re as shiny as star
You are as precious as time

by Xavier

You are as sweet as ice cream
You are as pretty as a flower
You are my light

Ms. Tamru 6th Grade

by Mikela C.

You make me as happy as a momma bear finding her cub
Your smile is as beautiful as the sunset
Your face glistens like the moon reflecting off the ocean

by Darion F.

Your eyes are as blue as the ocean
Your hair is a straight as the frozen lake
Your laugh is as annoying as a cicada

by Trinity K.

Spending time with you is like being on a roller coaster
Your head is bigger than a hot air balloon
You make my heart feel like cloud
