Ode to Favorite Foods

This week, we were all about food! We talked through what kind of poem an ode is, and how it celebrates something. Then we read two previous student odes: one about French toast and another on strawberries. Everyone then brainstormed about their favorite foods, what they tasted and smelled like, who or what it reminded them of, and then wrote their own odes about their favorite meals or foods. By the end of the hour, everyone was hungry and sharing delicious poems!

Ode to Homemade Pizza Igzavior O.

The pizza smells like sweet tomato and pepperoni

my favorite toppings are pepperoni, cheese, tomato

And the crust has to be crunchy!

Ode to my Favorite Food Ethan H.

I like eating

burgers and pizza

because they have

a good taste and smell

and it reminds me of McDonald’s

and Subway

McDonald’s makes me

happy and pizza

is yummy.

Ode to Tacos Ian S.

Tacos are the best they are

so good like the best food

ever I would eat everyday

Ode to Enchaladas Alan V.

A favorite dish is enchiladas

it tastes and smells cheesy

what it reminds me of is my mom

they are hot like flames
