The smoothie was cold and melting
in the sun, waiting patiently for
someone to drink it.
It was a sweet as candy and as
as strawberry milk.
The pink smoothie reminded
me of picking strawberries
from the garden.
It smelled the cotton candy
from the movie theater,
fluffy and sweet.
I can hear the blender
spinning in circles like
a record player turning endlessly.
I can hear the excited birds
chirping outside after they
found food.

I walk into the pizza place after
coming from a Halloween store.
The place is steamy from the pizza,
I tell my parents what pizza I want.
Pepperoni Pizza.
The pizza slice is bigger than my head,
and the smell is better than any
candle from any store.
The first bite I take is the best bite
of pizza I have ever taken.
I get a bite of the pepperoni
and the spice is good,
and the cheese is stringy
and good.
I save a half of the slice
for home to eat.
I leave the Danicos,
go home and warm up
my pizza and take another
bite, and the pizza just
hits again.

It feels like a bread
but as poofy
as a cloud.
It tastes like a bread
that has strawberry
jam but sweeter.
I see a cloud getting
ran over by a strawberry
jam plane.
I smell homemade
food my mom makes
when I’m sad.
I hear my mom chattering
with her friend while I
play with my friend
waiting for the delicious
food.

I remember that last sleepover
before I knew I was going to move.
The last waffles with my cousin.
The creme color walls those toasted
waffles with Nutella on top.
I could feel the little crispy squares
of the waffle.
I can hear me and my cousin
singing while we make waffles.
I taste the sweet Nutella on
top of the crispy waffle.
And that one last waffle that we
forgot about because we were
cheating.
It started to smell bad
and the fire alarm
went on.

I’ve had a bad baking experience.
It’s too hard, too gooey, burnt
or its just bad.
But this time we followed a good
recipe.
Step by step and at first, it was good.
We plucked into the oven
and 11 minutes later…
RING RING RING
We pulled them out the tray,
gave us its warmth.
The smell of chocolate chips
and smoke hit us.
The smoke coming out like
if the house was burning.
They were still too soft
So, me and my dad put
it back in and 10 minutes
Later … They were too
hard now, but I said
it’s fine.
I grabbed the milk with 2 cookies.
I dunked them and they were
hard and chewy like slime
with chocolate chips
and they were perfect.

I woke up today with a craving.
I walked through the door outside.
It was a nice sunny day.
I walked to the kitchen to get
Barbeque chips
I sat down in the chair,
it was huge for my 10-year-old body.
I munched on the chips, the taste
making me satisfied.
Stains covered my fingers.
But I didn’t care, they were good.
The salty chips made it taste
like salt water.
I looked over the balcony
at the back yard.
The birds chirp as I finish the
last chip with satisfaction.

When me and my family went to a restaurant.
I ordered a pork.
The pork was soft and the bone was hard.
I took a bite.
It was warm and soft, juicy, and tarty.
I took a deep breath and smelled
different types of foods, like mashed
potatoes and mac and cheese.
I took a look around and saw my family
sitting around me.
I saw other families in booths around us.
I could hear the distant clatter of
silverware people were using.
I could hear my family telling jokes
and laughing right after.
when I got home, I went straight
to my bed and fell asleep.
I dreamed that I went back to that
restaurant and order another pork.
As I watch my dad flipping the patties
on the grill, I got hungry.
Perfect, well done, warm.
The cheese melting with the sound
of the meat, sizzling.
As I waited at the table, hungry,
waiting to try my first hamburger,
until it was ready.
When I took my first bite, it was
like nothing I’ve ever eaten.
My life changed forever.

Boiling water on the stove,
getting the ramen ready for
a bath as I drop it in.
I hope that hot water doesn’t splash.
I let the noodles simmer in that
hot boiling water as it loosens up.
I stir… and add the flavor,
putting hot sauce for spice!
Soy sauce for darkness,
honey for sweetness!
I pour some of the juice out,
and put it in the bowl
and start to feast on this
yummy masterpiece
by me!

I remember the feeling of the soft
taco around my hand and the taste
of the seasoned carne with delicious
tortilla making the best combo.
Before I started to eat, I see the
unwrapped taco waiting to be
wrapped and eaten.
What I smell is the tacos being
cooked on the grill mixed with
the smell of the corn tortilla.
I then hear the meat sizzling
on the grill getting seasoned
by the shaker
tsk tsk tsk
It’s a beautiful starry night.
Outside, my doorbell rings
I walk out and see a kind
delivery driver.
I thank him and grab my food.
I look down at my beautiful
a crunchy and juicy delight
and I dig in.
The sweet taste of chicken
and biscuits was overwhelming.
It smelled like joy in a physical
form and I eat it all.

Warm day after school,
I drop my backpack on the floor.
I walk to the kitchen, I see my
grandma cooking.
I don’t know what she is making,
but the smell gives it away.
The smell of spices, tomato
sauce, goya spices.
I notice steam and bubbles
in the pot which means its
almost done.
My grandma picks the spoon
up and mixes it.
She asks me to get plates,
sour cream, and the rest.
The creamy soup, the fresh
cut avocados, and the shells
floating, makes me have
an awesome day.
