Ms. Widman 11 & 12th Grade
I play video games often
for me, it feels like being free from being
in school. I sometimes imagine where I
am in the game & would love to
explore the gaming’s setting.
I love playing the games
as my favorite characters.
That punch & fights they do in games
is me trying to fight my
struggles & worries.
Growing up traveling I’ve learned to love.
I fall for jagged cobblestone streets.
I’m seduced by amber streetlights.
I’m embraced by the warm water of the Mediterranean Sea.
I find peace sitting in a cafe.
It feels as though the minutes pass slower here
like everything I love, it has its moments:
food poisoning,
altitude sickness,
snarky AirBnB owners,
bickering with Mom and Emily,
but those moments make me all the more appreciative.
I love having the privilege to fight in Paris.
I love what traveling has taught me.
Love is unique we feel it but it’s not the same.
Why do some feel butterflies as some don’t?
Can’t love be a passion
like growing an army of stuffed animals
or cooking a mouth watering dish that tastes like home.
Love is odd, some of us don’t need it as much, like others.
Why does love hurt when you know it’s over
can’t love stay forever?
Like a flower that never dies
or a pet cat that stays with you til the end.
I wonder what can love be?
Can it be a feeling or an action?
Can it be a dish or flowers?
Can it be a person or an object?
Can it be a home or a place?
Can it be everything or nothing?
Love is unique and we all feel it in a way.
Where the mountains rise like steady hearts,
your blue sea waits calmly at the shore
holding the sky in its arms.
Stone streets remember old feet.
The towns always tell a story.
The sun rests on red rooftops.
