Life—It’s not Scaring Me (Kindergarten)

We had a great time in Kindergarten today! We read an excerpt from Maya Angelou’s poem “Life Doesn’t Frighten Me.” We talked about things were afraid of and and how we can be brave. We learned that Ms. Icho is afraid of snakes and many many of us are afraid of spiders! We also talked again about streeeeeeetching our ideas to add more detail. Please enjoy their poem, which the students decided to title “Life—It’s not Scaring Me.”

I’m not afraid of…
creepy snakes because they can’t get on me when we run.
snakes and spiders because we kill them when they’re annoying at our house.
spiders because I draw to feel better.
biting ants because I hug my mom.
an evil bug train because I can kill the bugs.
slithering snakes because I give the snakes food and they love the food.
big spiders because I kill it.
spiders because I sing to feel brave.
ghosts who are dangerous.
Halloween ghosts who are scary.
spiders who bite me.
sharks who bite me.
mad dogs who bite me.
sharks because they are in the water.
spiders because I can slap them.
spiders because everytime a spider comes I can kill it.
ghosts because my mom is always with me.
trains because I can kick the trains!
dogs because they are soft and fluffy.
cats because cats are so cute and loving.
spiders because they’re not scary.
