“It’s really easy to get a pet…”

Last week at Swift – rather than introducing a new lesson – I asked students to look through their folders to select a poem that they would like to spend more time on. Many 2nd graders in Ms. Pendola’s class chose to write out their “Love Poems,” which they brainstormed artfully during Valentines Day. Students in Ms. Brist’s class worked on their color poems. Enjoy!

I love... Shreya C.

I love soccer,
when I kick the ball it makes me
feel confident.
I love pizza,
when I eat the pizza it tastes
like chicken.
I like gymnastics,
when I do a cartwheel
I feel strong.

Europe Melita S.

Europe is the best place ever!
From their bread to cars to restaurants!
It’s really easy to
get a pet since there are a lot of strays there.
When the sun sets, the people start praying.
There are a lot of vintage and useful gadgets.
There are a lot of sheep everywhere.

Zila A.

I love my teacher
I love my mom and
dad
I love my cat
I love my grandma

Nothing is Better Than a Cup of Hot Cocoa Aaliyah M.

A cup of hot cocoa is like chocolate melted in a bowl with
nutella and marshmallows. I love hot cocoa!

I love theater class
I get to act like a dog
and a frog
just like a cat
and just like a mat.

I love gymnastics
If someone is scared to try it
I would tell them “just try and if you don’t like it then
you don’t have to do it.”
Things I love.
