In our feelings Poems – Moos 3rd Grade – Winter 2020

In the 6th session of the Chicago Poetry Center residency, 3rd-grade students used their poems to explore their feelings through comparisons, descriptive language, and playful imagery.

When I feel happy I want food
I eat all of it
I go up and down
When I feel sad
I just want to go to my room
and cry
like rain
when it falls down.

Cuando yo siento enojada
yo quiero un abrazo de mi mama.
Una casa de dulce.
Un mango de chocolate.
Yo veo un gato de bebes.
Cuando yo siento feliz
yo quiero un helado.
Un helado de arcoiris.
Un gato de chocolate.
Yo veo una casa un ciudad de dulce.

When I feel mad I burst like a volcano.
I stomp.
I scream like a monkey.
I scream in my pillow.
When I feel happy
I have a smiley face.
I jump.
I make jokes.

I hear cars going on and off
I wish there were more cookies
I dream I was a bird
I hear soaring
I jump like a monkey
I wish there were ghosts
I dream of climbing walls
a day of cookies
I hear cooking rice
I dream of rabbits

I wish there were clones of me

I wish there were sand dragons
