“He is like a bolt of lightning”

This week, we read (in our best Hulk voice!) an excerpt of “Hulk Smash!” by Greg Santos and “Forest Walk” by Kristine O’Connell George. We talked about how to write a persona poem in the point of view of someone or something else, and we also went over what a simile is and how to use it. The 5th graders wrote some wonderful poems after that!

Mr. Goldner's Classroom

The Creative Minds Amiyah D.

The creative minds think alike

no wonder people say that

a lot. Creative minds make

wonderful things like paintings,

drawings, even writing in

cursive!

My creative mind thinks

differently like a lambo

driving fast oh no what

if the police catch me but

they can’t ha-ha too

fast to catch, driving

down the road swerving

left to right speed

on top you never

know what the creative

minds can think like!

The police think they

can catch me but oh

well too fast for

you honeyy!!

My Xbox Pierre

My Xbox I wouldn’t want to

be my Xbox I would get thrown

like a football. When he loses

an easy ranked match

and treated as if I was starbase

when he hits the keyboard like a

hulk smash.

Katniss Everdeen Alanis

An endless danger

to survive, to live, to lose

My life like a bow and arrow

the options are so narrow

A life far more different

To be a mocking jay

the sunlight on my face in a ray

in the Hunger Games

as annual victor

to live like you will not the next day

to see life in a different way

A choice I will not get to choose

To be and live as the girl on fire

is a strange but understandable desire.

Mrs. Childs Classroom

Charlie Angie

Charlie knows he is loved

He has a problem

He has too much energy

He bites but not too hard

Charlie doesn’t have to go to school

Charlie’s lucky

He can’t eat human food

He is like a bolt of lightning

He is fast and energetic

He is Charlie and he is a dog.

Life as a Tree Daniel J.

Life as a tree can be hard especially

when it’s winter

in winter it’s like

I could freeze to death

it’s super cold

that is why I don’t like the winter.
