Dubois Dreamers

This week at Dubois, students read aloud from dream poems written by a third grader, Louise Driscoll, and Langston Hughes. Students considered the importance of having dreams: hopes and goals for themselves and others. We shared dreams that we had while sleeping, as well as daydreams. Some students said that watching violent movies before going to bed made them have scary dreams; while others suggested that thinking positive thoughts before going to bed could help one’s dreaming to be sweeter. 3rd graders collaborated on the following:

3rd Grade

We dream about....

being in a fun place
and a nice monster named Blue
about someone we love getting shot
we dream about trying to help

we dream about having a nice house and being grateful
about being a nurse and an entrepreneur
who makes hair care products or
being a hair stylist who also does nails

we dream about holding hands with our mother
while going bungie-jumping and eating ice cream afterward

we dream about being a nail tech and doing hair

we dream about going to the beach with mom;
surviving an alien virus;
going to iHop with dad and then to Aunty’s house

and becoming a famous artist
and becoming a musical artist and an NBA player
or a wrestler
or not being taken to school by dad for a whole month
but going someplace fun instead
and
dreaming about a fluffy dog then
waking up to find the family dog in bed with you
