Dear Mayor of Chicago

On the last day of the residency, students from each class did a poetry reading from their poetry books (see previous poets). The students in Mrs. Yanez/Ms. Sauer’s class had extra time, so the third graders wrote poems to Chicago’s mayor. Here’s what they created.

Sophia P.

Dear mayor

of Chicago

we need

things for

summer. It

is important

we need

extra pools

and parties

and no guns.

Emiliano Munoz

Dear Mayor

I would like

cheap toys

and phones.

I would also

like to arrest

people with

arms and guns

and give 1,000

dollars to homeless

people and more

planting of trees.

Dear Mayor of Chicago Brianna B.

I want

to protect

animals from

cars and

child safety

more field

trips cheap

gas more

stairs less

mean people.
