Cutting Up!: Collage Poems

Students used magazines and created cut-up poems! They used ‘found language’ and images to create new meaning.

Lesson Note: Creative Artist guru Julia Cameron says the part of us that creates art is about 7 years old. And so, it is no surprise that, with scissors in hand, even the most serious student finds themselves oddly enjoying this activity. ‘Language shapes our experiences, ‘ visual artist, Adam Pendleton told the NY Times in 2018, ‘or it gives new shape… to the things we experience.’
