Cutlets of Couplets

Today at Avondale/Logandale the 5th grade poets learn about rapping. After listening to Will Smith’s and DJ Jazzy Jeff’s song “Summertime” they were challenged to write their own rhymes. Each poet wrote a series of couplets. Check out these new up and coming rappers!

5th Grade

by David H.

A tool of destruction
And eruption

I dance
And I have romance

I live in the high grounds
Making a dive down

As hard as titanium
As rich as uranium

I’m tall like a mountain
And I reroute them

by Oberlin V.

I’m so cool
That’s why I rule.

Sometimes I can be cruel
Just like a fool.
I made my cat
Wear a hat.

by Lisette A.

I like art
As much as I like darts

I like expressing my life
as much as the night
I like food
And I am cool

MC LUV by Julian M.

We go to school
Because we are not fool

We got the drip
But i never skip

My buddy is a mice
But still got ice

I jump in the air
Like a flair

by Nayelis

We feel love in the air
People watch us stare

We be sassy
But be so classy

by Bibiana G.

I dress fancy
And sometimes classy

I am so clever
You could never

I’m so happy
Because I be napping

I love books
And I love to cook

I always stand up for myself
You should always be yourself

I can play the viola
But I also like granola
