Cotton candy, cookies, tacos, pizza….

For this week’s session, we focused on something everyone loves, food! We talked about how food can engage all five of our senses and for this reason it makes a great subject to write poetry about. We started off playing a few rounds of food charades and then students got started on their pieces. There were so many great poems to pick from with imaginative approaches. Enjoy this week’s pieces, and make sure you have a snack while you read!

Puppet Boy Airies

The carnival spins around
you Hansel
the sweet aroma pulls you in…you’re
here for the rides
the treats! But where’s Gretel? You try to run
past the fair but remember
it follows you everywhere…

God this cotton candy’s
great! I love it, it’s so
sweet and it melts
in your mouth
Almost like fiberglass
it’s getting dark
I see a little puppet
like Hansel…wait
where is he?

Cookies Adrian

Cookie
a good snack tgat you can
have with coffee, hot chocolate
or by itself

The thin crispy or soft
cookie that is steamy
coming out the oven a light
brown color with chocolate chips
Delicious!

Taking a delicious bite,
giving people delight,
eating cookies like cookie monster
or like Santa Claus coming to
town eating delicious cookies
leaving with a big smile.

Smelling delicious making
eyes dilate looking at
the oven seeing good
cookies being baked

cookies are so yummy they
make my day
