Comparison Poems 3rd & 4th Grade @ Avondale Logandale Fall 2019

During the 3rd week of the Chicago Poetry residency, youth were encouraged to find similarities between different things. This encouraged creativity and to recognize what people and things might have in common. These are some of the poems from the week of studying comparisons.

Ms. Pease 4th Grade

Yanny O.

My bed is like a fluffy sheep
glue is sticky like syrup
a bird tweeting is like a song
a marker is like a magical wand
a field trip is like exploring the world

Megan T.

A cloud is like snow in winter
Trees in a forest are like broccoli for lunch
The earth is like a tiny marble
The universe is like a wet canvas
The school is like the great big book
All the people screaming is like a bolt of lightening
Singing is like a frog croaking
My family is like the inside of me

Alexander R.

A black cat is like dark midnight
The blue sky is like water
My birthday is like a holiday
A project is like a picture
Winning is like a prize
A book is like knowledge
A Tree is like grass
A dragon is like a bird
