Chicago Poems (Kindergarten)

Today, in Ms. Icho’s kindergarten class, we went on an imaginary tour of Chicago! We got into the bus and buckled our seatbelts and went around our neighborhoods and some of the city’s most famous locations! Then we read “Chicago” by the Poetry Center’s own Fullamusu Bangara. Every student wrote and drew their own line of our community poem about our city.

Chicago Class Poem

I see Wal-Mart.
I taste a really big coffee.
I hear the train tk tk tk.
I hear people screaming.
I see a castle building.
I see the park.
I see birds walking from the floor and a house.
I see a lot of money and slides and swings.
I see a rainbow and a park.
I see people swimming in the river.
I see people swimming in a pool.
I see a dog and house.
I see ice cream and the sun.
I see cars and people.
I see McDonalds.
I see people, houses, and cars.
I see water on the floor.
I hear airplanes go poooossshhh.
I hear splish splash a pool.
I hear cars going vroooom in the city.
I see noodles.
I see a big trampoline.
I see slides at the park.
I see noodles.
I hear people singing “finger family, finger family”
I see flooding in the streets and shadows.
