In our fourth poetry session in Ms. Schiffer’s class at Legal Prep, the students watched Dr. Maya Angelou’s “And Still I Rise” performance and observed how it influenced Amanda Gorman’s poem, “The Hill We Climb”.
Scholars then wrote their own short poems to bring light and inspire movement in their community!
Check out freshman poet Isiah’s piece below.

We have to be careful.
Our voices matter to the people.
You will feel cheerful.
Our voices can bring kindness.
Our voices are boundless.
