Alyx Chandler

Alyx Chandler (she/her) is a poet, educator, and former journalist from the South who teaches undergraduate writing at Roosevelt University and National Louis University. Her poetry chapbooks include Hollering Spell, a 2025 finalist in the New Women’s Voices Chapbook Competition (Finishing Line Press) and Girl of the Year, forthcoming in 2027 (Red Bird Chapbooks). Alyx was a Richard Hugo Fellow and received her MFA in poetry from the University of Montana. For the five years that followed, she hosted poetry workshops through Free Verse Writing Project, which published student work by youth who were incarcerated, in shelter homes, or in psychiatric facilities across Montana. In 2025, she won the Three Sisters Award in Poetry with Nelle Literary Journal and received a Creative Catalyst grant from the Illinois Arts Council. In Chicago, she recently collaborated with interdisciplinary artists through Off the Page: Poetry Reimagined to feature her poetry and art inspired by it in the exhibit Bodies Luminous at Woman Made Gallery.
