Unknown planets beyond our galaxy

Twain Elementary 6th graders explored other planets for their fifth week of poetry. I asked students how they would create a better world. Most students thought it would be great to have a world where animals ruled, everyone becomes rich, and oceans made of chocolate.

Together we read the poem “Another Planet,” by Dunya Mikhail. In her poem Mikhail uses similes and personification to create her own unique planet. The war has left its “r” behind and turned into love, so the weapons sleep beneath the dust/and the planes pass by without shelling the cities, And the boats look like smiles on the water. Mikhail imagines a of a planet of peace and kindness.

Inspired by Dunya Mikhail, students wrote their own poems, creating their own ideal planets. So, readers make sure to book a trip and get ready to explore this amazing planet poems below.

Elijah's Planet by Elijah C.

I just landed on this planet.
The trees have eyes and mouths,
and they can talk.

The food on this planet is berries
on the trees and plants.

I can only see birds.
Sum are big and some are small.
You can tame them with seeds
and stuff.

I see people but I don’t
know if they’re friendly.
They have weapons
and they’re tall and blue.

They have a village, maybe
I should learn their ways
so, I can survive this planet.

My Planet Pandora by Sarai P.

My planet is cold as a fridge.
On my planet there is free
food.

My planet is fresh like
new shoes.

Animals are treated well.
My planet is round like
a ball.

The waters are clean
and calm.

Trees and plants
grow at night.

Pokemon World by Allyson D.

I am in the Pokémon world!
Where Pokémon and people
live together happily.

Some Pokémon welcome
you with smiles.
Battles are intense
as a lion.
pikachus sing together
happily.

Its ok if you lose a battle,
you can always try again.

Pokémon and the trainers
friendships always last.

Unknown by Jayden A.

It is random as chicken jelly.
It is peaceful as a park.
The houses are like
Travis Scott.

On my planet, no war, we
have peace with Homer
left his donut.

On my planet we get
gum-gum juice.
On my planet there are
very interesting pets.

There are three sides for
the good, rotten, and both.

The first is rotten, filled
with lions, tigers, and horror
movie creatures.

The second is both, cold
as a day in the arctic but filled
with friendly, fluffy polar bears.
They are everywhere, the king
is a polar bear.

The third is good, the buildings
jump and the doves sing, and
free and world peace is active.

But if you come, you stay for
5 years.

The Rolyatredraxelalainab Planet by Daniel T.

The planet’s name is
Rolyatredraxelalainab
with no money,
Pigs flying, the fish
are up in the sky.

The language is
the normal language
on Earth.

Also, the planet is
flat like a floor.

If you look up diamonds
are sky diving.

My Planet by Diego O.

My planet is a planet that
has half sweet and half cold.

My planet is a planet with
syrup as water and as cold
as a lee-cub in a sub-zero
freezer.

My planet is as tasty as a piece
of chocolate.

My planet is as cold as an ice-cube.

My planet plays tag with me
when I am bored.

My planet talks to me
when I am lonely.

Javion Red Planet by Jamir J.

My planet is bright red.
It has trees with bright
beautiful red leaves.

If you wanted to cook something
on my planet, it would come
out great.

The Unicorn Planet by Selina A.

The unicorn planet is as hot
as the sun.

On this planet all of the

Also, on this unique planet,
there is no homework or
no schools, just unicorns
and animals talking while
everything is pink.

Tenalp By Elias D.

Tenalp is a planet where
the ground is a warm, soft
piece of bread.
Where the air is not smoky,

A planet where food flies
not dies.
Everything is free, free

So, grab a spaceship
and let’s fly to the sky.
