In our first 6th grade class at McCutcheon we read Theme for English B by Langston Hughes. We defined poetry as a class and talked about how the poem met our definition.

Today at McCutcheon we talked about lines & stanzas. The 8th grade class read Ode to Flowers Along the Coast by Pablo Neruda and wrote Odes in response.

For the first week of class with McCutcheon's 8th graders, we talked about what poetry is. The students came up with a great list that covered many aspects of poetry.

We read Kevin Derrig's poem, First Period and talked about how it met our definition of poetry.
