11th Annual Juried Reading Submission Deadline Postmark Deadline: February 15, 2005 First Prize $1000, Second Prize $500, Third Prize $250 Final Judge: Jorie Graham The Poetry Center invites Illinois poets as well as poets from Illinois neighboring states of Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin to submit their unpublished work for consideration in the 11th Annual Juried Reading. Eight finalists will be selected to read at a Poetry Center event. $2,000 in prizes will be awarded: $1000 first prize, $500 second prize, $250 third prize and $50 each to the remaining five finalists. One poem by each finalist will be published in a chapbook and on The Poetry Center website. The Juried Reading is open to all Illinois poets as well as poets from Illinois neighboring states of Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Wisconsin who are unpublished or who have published no more than one full-length book of poetry, not including self-published books. You must be a current resident of these states to enter the contest. All submissions are blind judged, meaning the jury and the final judge do not have access to any identifying information about the submitting poets. Current employees, contract employees, board members and advisory board members of The Poetry Center of Chicago, their partners or spouses, and their immediate families are ineligible. Former students and immediate family of the final judge are also ineligible. To submit, mail: 1. A cover sheet including your name, address, phone number, e-mail address, and titles of poems submitted. 2. Four copies of a packet of no more than 5 single-sided pages of unpublished poetry. Your name should not appear on any of the pages containing poems. 3. $10 jury fee, check or money order made payable to 'The Poetry Center'(The contest is free for Poetry Center members).
