Former Poet Laureate, Robert Hass gave
a free lecture on "The Progression of 20th Century
Poetry" on February 3, 2001, at Loyola's Lake
Shore Campus. The Poetry Center was proud to help
the Mundelein College Student Activity Board attract
an audience of 300 for a lecture on modern poetry
(in which Chicago played a crucial role). Hass
wrapped up his lecture with the reading of a Langston
Hughes poem to improv blues guitar played by Richard
Fammeree.
