Sports Court

It's 5:00. The season is summer.
I hear the
basketball bouncing
and hitting the back-
board. Hearing the

ball going in the net.
The mood is happy, fun,
joyful.

In My Room
a poem by Aaron W., 2011 Anthology of Student Verse

You remember when you closed the door

to your room? You jumped and flopped

on your bed and pillows. There were

sounds of people talking, and leaves

blowing in the wind. It felt like soft

feathers. It smelled like flowers outside

your room. You felt the soft quiet wind

blowing through the window on your face.

It smelled like your mom's cooking.

You started taking out toys to play with,

then your mom called you for dinner.

Turning Nine
a poem by Abbinav G., 2011 Anthology of Student Verse

Right now I feel like a music box that has gotten

batteries, and sometimes stops. But I used

to be a music box with no batteries.

But at five I was a fragile, skinny cheetah

in a big, lighted factory. At six I was a wise and quick
fox,
usually doing some cunning tricks.

At seven I was a superhero, soaring in the sky

helping people passing by.

Now I have told you about my past.

Now think of your past, and tell me about it

when you turn nine.

The Blowing

Before the blowing people
have to put one arm
clothes and go to the
basement, or else the blowing
will blow you away.

After the blowing you
will not survive, people will
die, because is is a strong
wind.

Soon in theaters!

I want my aunt's
baby to be cute and it is
almost born because in two

My aunt has 4D pictures of
him when she was doing her
exams on the baby. In one of
the pictures the baby was pointing
a finger because he was
trying to say, Mommy number 1.
His name is Ebraham Gabriel

My aunt's name is Yesenia.
The baby's nickname is Nunu.

I Am
a poem by Aida G., 2011 Anthology of Student Verse

I am a cupcake going in to the oven.

I am a tarantula sneaking up on something

to kill.

I am a playful puppy that plays all day.

Summer Beach
a poem by Alejandro V., Grade 3

In summer, the beach
is really hot. And
I hear the waves
