Summer Beach
a poem by Alejandro V., Grade 3

In summer, the beach
is really hot. And
I hear the waves

the sun sweetly.
And I feel the

Hamster
a poem by Anonymous, Grade 3

I am outside looking at a hamster.
He lives in a small box.
Life is so sad for him.
I ask him some questions.
Like, I said, "How do you live
in a box?" His answer was sad.
I asked the hamster if I could ask
him some other questions, but
his answer was no, because
he was starting to die.
I was really sad.
I told him, "One more question.
Would you really love to have a home?"
The answer was "Yes.
I would really love to be you
because I would ask someone
to ask me a question,
for then I could tell them

big brown eyes.
I am everything you see.

The Purple Jewel
a poem by D'Antony D., Grade 3

It's like purple
mountains and gold.
With purple jewelry
in the top.
It has rocky sides
and pointy tops. In the
bottom, it grays like
a rock. It looks
like glass, purple
glass. That
jewel is very
hard.
